Found a program on my PC called DesktopLayer.exe, a ramnit. I've tried everything. After attempting to delete it by using Safe Mode, it claimed it was deleted but it then shows up again after I restart. It seems like there is no way to get rid of this damn thing. Is the only way to reformat? If anyone can help me try and find a way to get rid of this, it would be greatly appreciated.

(EDITED) Oh and the exe hasn't been running in my processes.

Also you would have 10x better chance at solving your issue if you post this on another forum.
https://forums.malwarebytes.org shameless 2x malwarebytes plug on the same thread

  6. If it still needs to be addressed, I think I can help. Ramnit is a compact, small yet powerful virus infectant, that yes, can reoccur upon restarting. Go to Uninstall a Program under Control Panel. Delete EVERYTHING that looks like you dont need it, or you haven't seen before. Ramnit can infect devices too. Try checking your device manager options and do the same listed above. If persists, add my Skype : HeYJaYHaX. Ill be more than willing to help.

@HeYJaYHaX I have gone through my programs and everything that is installed isn't fishy. I was looking into it and it suggested a reformat because even if I get rid of it, the files it infected cannot be fixed. I'll add your skype when I get home though, maybe we can find another solution. On the bright side, as far as I know, no one is controlling my computer or stealing anything personal.

  9. @Knotz, this virus is lethal for adding unwanted software or adware, slowing down your computer. Unfortunately the only way to remove this virus is to format your device to factory settings. Without the proper format, the virus can duplicate to prevent a quick delete+reboot. As well as trying to delete unused programs, if you aren't tech-savvy and you don't know what to do, you could accidentally remove required software that was installed by your OS or programs you use.

  11. Be sure to reset your passwords too. It's more of a safety precaution opposed to a requirement, but I usually change my passwords every 6-ish months. :)

If you are still having issues you could always re install your OS onto you system. This will cause everything to be deleted so BACK UP DATA.
