  2. You could get a really high-end Intel Core i7-based machine for a very similar price.

The Intel Core i7 has much better single-threaded performance, and thus can deliver much more consistent and generally better FPS in most games.

You can easily get the following for a very similar price, and experience amazing performance for years to come.

    Cooler Master HAF X Case = ~$160-$200
Already has all the fans you'll ever need.

    Intel Core i7-4770 Quad-Core 3.40GHz + HT = ~$300
Very powerful gaming, media editing/creation, and multitasking processor.

    16GB DDR3 1866MHz RAM = ~$200
Fast and reliable RAM. I personally recommend Corsair.

    120GB SSD for OS = ~$99
    I personally recommend a Samsung 840 Evo.

    1TB 7.2k HDD = ~$90
I personally recommend a Western Digital BLACK Edition.

    nVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 2GB= ~$350
A very powerful and capable GPU. Will throw off most modern games like nothing.

    850W PSU = ~$130
will handle all these component with plenty of power to spare.

    Total Cost: ~ $1400

  4. I say you should get a better graphics card like a 760 or 750 ti with that powerful of a CPU and ram. An Intel CPU is not always necessary. I believe my brother is running the same CPU as you are looking and it runs like a boss for really cheap compared to an i7.

  5. The question is if it's worth it. Personally if you have the money don't skimp, you'll regret it later. If you're going to do it then do it right.
